this was a song written from the perspective of a friend of mine who was sexually assaulted one night at the beach. to make the lyrics, I used a sort of oblique strategy where I told leif I had a secret but there were many words I could not use to reveal it. he then asked me questions and I wrote down some of the answers.

the lyrics in the bridge were inspired by the fairy tale 'the woman with the ribbon around her neck'.
